(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) A state-of-the-art Goodwill Career Solutions building is planned for Ninth and Herman streets in Nashville. The current site, which housed the Career Solutions team and Goodwill's Outlet Store, was built in 1954 and is no longer adequate for serving the growing number of clients who depend on Goodwill for job training and placement. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on Wednesday, April 15 at Ninth and Herman streets in Nashville.
The new $5.25 million building will be a super-structure, giving Goodwill the ability to add a third floor at a later point. "This building should take care of our Career Solutions needs for a number of years," says David Lifsey, president and CEO of Goodwill. The new 29,000 square foot, two-story building will house the Career Solutions group and Goodwill's human resources department.
Career Solutions staff members have temporarily relocated throughout Nashville during the construction period. Clients are now working with Career Solutions staff in office space Goodwill has rented at 919 Eighth Avenue South and at our Berry Road location.
Goodwill's new building will allow Career Solutions to expand the services it currently provides, create new programs, and tailor future services to the needs of the community. Plans also include an in-house call center training program and room to grow Goodwill's computer training classes.
The Outlet Store, a long-time fixture at Ninth and Herman streets is now located 780 Berry Road in what was once Goodwill's Commercial Services space. The new outlet store is 12,500 square feet, three thousand square feet larger than the original store and is operating the same hours as all our retail stores, which means it is now open on Sundays. Salvage and Recycling Operations have also move to the Berry Road. site.
