(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) -- The Goodwill Outlet Store, a longtime fixture at Ninth and Herman Streets will close its doors for good on Saturday, March 21.  The grand re-opening of the store will take place just two days later, on Monday, March 23.  Work has been underway for several months upgrading and prepping the new site, which will be located in the back of Goodwill's Berry Road store which once housed Commercial Services.  The new store will be 12,500 square feet, three thousand square feet larger than the current store.

The larger space presents great opportunities for our Goodwill and our shoppers.  "The real plus will be that most product will come out on rolling tables.  The current plan is to rotate out every table every two hours," says David Jenkins, senior director of retail who is overseeing the move.

One of the first things shoppers will notice when they enter the new Outlet Store is the floor.  It is the first of our stores to have an upgraded polished concrete floor.  The look is very upscale and is expected to wear well.  Another first is the new store will operate the same hours as our other retail sites, which means it will be open on Sundays.

Longer hours at the store means more opportunities for shoppers to find great deals.  Customers at the Outlet Store recognize the great values and products that can be found throughout the store and often buy items in bulk, which results in greater savings. To make check-out easier, there will be two types of scales at the registers.  Shoppers who buy items sold by the pound, and who have full carts, will only have to roll those carts onto larges scales where they will be weighed.  The more they buy, the larger the discount.  Shoppers with fewer items will have their items weighed on smaller scales on the registers.

As Jenkins says, "Everything will be new and improved.  This is an exciting opportunity for our shoppers and we welcome everyone to come by and experience our new Outlet Store."
