What does a country music fan who lives in New Hope, Penn., have to do with our Goodwill? Donna Marshall visits Nashville every year for the CMA Music Festival. This year’s event, just one month after the historic flooding in the city, gave Donna pause. Downtown looked good, but she knew the city was still hurting. When she returned to New Hope, Donna was determined to collect donations to help the city recover.
Donna started her journey with a search on the Web for an agency that could accept a significant amount of clothing and shoes. She settled on Goodwill after learning of our mission, how we provided many flood victims with free job services after their place of work was shuttered due to the flooding, how we gave clothing to flood victims through our Goodwill Cares program, and that our agency had also suffered substantial damage from the flood.
Her dream became reality as donations piled high at the New Hope fire station, the collection point for all that her friends and neighbors were giving. Almost eight weeks later, with a 48’ tractor trailer filled to capacity, Donna was in Nashville when the truck arrived at the docks at Goodwill. Thank you to everyone from New Hope from the 1,400 employees of Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee who have jobs because of the generosity of our donors. You will change lives.
