As 2010 winds down, Goodwill's donations team is gearing up for its busiest time of the year.  If you plan to clear your clutter, clean your closets and get your donation receipt for your 2010 taxes, donate early.  It's expected that our donations team will serve almost triple the average number of daily donors during the week of December 27.  There are more than 65 Donations Express Centers located throughout the 46 counties served by Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee.  Visit our locations page to find the center that's most convenient for you.

All items donated to Goodwill are tax deductible.  Donations Express Center attendants will provide a receipt for your donation but the IRS requires donors to assess a value for each item.  Goodwill has a suggested value list for each item you donate.  Be sure to save your receipt because Goodwill does not maintain a record of donors and is unable to replace a lost receipt.

If you're unsure what to donate, Goodwill is in need of clothing and shoes as 2010 comes to a close.  We have compiled a list of items that can and cannot be accepted by Goodwill.

Because of your donations, it's expected that Goodwill's Career Solutions counselors will provide free job training and placement services for more than 11,000 friends and neighbors in middle and west Tennessee in 2010.  87 percent of the revenue from the sale of your donations in Goodwill's 30 retail stores funds our free employment and training programs for people with disabilities and other barriers to employment.  More than 90 percent of Goodwill's employees are mission-related.  Your donations do change lives!
